My classroom

I have never really had a theme for my classroom. I have always liked it to be fun and organized, but never thought about themes. So, this year I decided I wanted a theme and I have had lots of fun planning and creating everything.

The theme I choose was "Countries of the World"! I thought it was brilliant since I am the ESL teacher. Well, there is not a whole lot of stuff about this theme out there. Not on Pinterest, not on Google, not even to sell.

So, I found inspiration here and there and put my spin on it. The plan is that besides having my room all fun and decorated, I will teach about different countries every month.

This is what my door looks like. I am not good at drawing, by any means, but I think it turned out good. Until my husband pointed that the airplane had no landing gear. Oh well, it is what it is, right?

Welcome to the ESL International Airport!!

Oh the signs!! The kids just LOVE the signs. Even the ones that do not come to ESL are always reading the names of the countries and talking about them. I used cardboard to make the signs and painted them with various colors of acrylic paint. Then, I used my Cricut to cut the letters and pictures.

Then you walk in and BAM! the flags banner. That was a finding! Thanks Amazon. That made a huge difference and pulled the whole room together.

I only have one bulletin board, and to be honest with you, I don't like to change it many times throughout the year. So, I wanted something fun that could be there for a while. Then it hit me...airport...arrivals and departures... and that's how this board was born. Once again, my Cricut worked as it had never worked before, and there you go!

One fun story about this board is that I have a friend who moved down here from Connecticut about two years ago. She still goes there often to visit family and friends, and talks about it all the time. Well, I wanted to give her a not so subtle message...
She can't move back there because her flight has been canceled... for EVER!! (love you, Lisa!!!).

Well, airport theme means having suitcases around, so I went on a hunt for cool ones. I found super cool ones at the Resource Warehouse and the Cooperative Christian Ministries. Then, my wonderful friend Susan donated one that belonged to her grandma. I love them!!! And they double as storage too!!!

The stickers I also bought at Amazon. Go Amazon!!!

This is a souvenirs corner (in progress). I am still not sure how I am going to display it all. I think it might be a cork board on the wall, plus the shelves. I want to have things that the students can touch and manipulate from each country such as pictures, currency, toys, etc.

And last, but not least...

Paris!!!

I asked my good friend, Sean Parnell (our Art teacher) if he could help me with the view out of my window. I wanted it to look like we were there. So, I left for a meeting and twenty minutes later I come back for this! WOW!!! Saying he did a great job is an understatement. This is awesome!!!

So, here you go. My room. I just love every little thing and can't wait to begin teaching. It will be a trip!!!
